A guest network provides visitors at your home to use the Internet without using your primary wireless network’s password. You can create a guest network for the 2.4 GHz WiFi band and 5 GHz WiFi band. Here you will find how to set up a guest network on my Nighthawk router.
To Set up a Guest Network on my Nighthawk Router:
Find below the steps to setup a Netgear nighthawk guest network:
Find below the default guest wireless network names (SSIDs):
NETGEAR-Guest is for the 2.4 GHz WiFi band. NETGEAR-5G-Guest is for the 5 GHz WiFi band. Make sure that the Enable SSID Broadcast check box selected.
Enabling the router to broadcast its WiFi network name (SSID) makes it easier to find your network and connect to it. If you erase this check box, you create a hidden network. Give the guest network name.
The guest network name should be in capital and can be up to 32 characters. Then you can setup manually WiFi-enabled devices in your network to use the guest network name in addition to the main SSID.
Select a security option. The WPA2 choices use the most recent standard for the strongest security. WPA2 is the default setting. Click the Apply button. Your settings are saved.
That’s it!! Now you have set up a guest network on my Nighthawk router. You can also use Nighthawk app for setup a guest wifi network. You can create a guest WiFi network that is separate from your main WiFi network. It helps to protects your device from susoious downloads.
Creating a separate WiFi connection for guests protects the devices connected to your home network. In case a guest downloads any malicious file while connected to your router’s WiFi, the main WiFi network will protect your device.
