Linksys routers branded by the manufacturer brand Cisco provides regular firmware updates for all their products covered under some set of conditions. It is mandatory to periodically check for updates on the Linksys router for ensuring its optimum functionality.
By doing an update check, you can avoid certain malicious bugs, intermittent wireless connections or other issues associated with the network connections. For users, who want to know the procedure of how to update Linksys ac1900 firmware .
Here is a step by step guide to update the firmware of any Linksys ac1900 product supported by the manufacturer.
When you update the firmware of any device or system, it basically fixes the existing bug and functionality enhancements for the router. SO, it becomes essentially important to keep the firmware of your Linksys device updated as it fixes all the potential; issues you may encounter while working with it.
Please note that an updated firmware downloaded from the official Linksys Support site might also have the feature enhancements for your device which were not available in the previous versions.
There are two ways to update the firmware on your Linksys ac1900. One is Automatic Updates and the second is Manual updates.
Now when you want to keep the firmware of your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router updated, you can go with any of these two methods:
Step 1: Sign in to your Linksys cloud account. Once the admin interface opens on your screen, click on the Connectivity tab.
NOTE: In case you don't own a Linksys cloud account, then check the instructions on how to access your router's settings without having a Linksys cloud account.
Step 2: Under the Basic tab of Firmware Update section, click the Check for Updates button. Now, the router starts checking for available updates.
Step 3: Once the router detects a firmware update, you can easily download and install the firmware on your device. Now, you can select the Click here link to upgrade the firmware.
NOTE: If there are no updates and you get a message No updates found, this means the router has the latest firmware version.
Step 4: Next, click the Yes button on the Update firmware pop-up box. By this, your router starts updating the firmware.
NOTE: During the complete process, never turn OFF the router or close the browser window as this avoids corrupting the firmware of your router.
IMPORTANT TIP: If you find a prompt box to try again later, this means that your server might be slow or not available for the particular moment. So, you can upgrade the router firmware at a later time.
Step 5: A Router Reboot screen will pop up on your display. Here, press OK to continue.
NOTE: The router rebooting will take a few minutes to complete.
Step 6: Once the firmware updates are completely done, click the OK button on the Firmware update screen.
Step 1: Login to your Linksys cloud account. Once the web interface opens, click on Connectivity.
NOTE: Users who don't have a Linksys cloud account can access the router's web panel through a web browser directly. Just open the link "http://myrouter.local" or "192.168.1.1" into the address bar of the browser and press ENTER.
Step 2: In the Firmware Update section, check the box corresponding to Automatic firmware update option. Once it is done, click Apply and save the changes.
NOTE: By default, the Automatic Firmware Update feature is disabled on routers. When the router is online, it automatically finds for available updates.
Step 3: Click the Yes button on the Update firmware pop-up box so the router starts updating the firmware.
IMPORTANT: Do not turn off the router or close the browser window as this might corrupt the router firmware.
Step 4: Next, a Router Reboot screen opens on your screen. So, click Ok to continue. Router reboot usually takes a few minutes to process.
Step 5: Finally, when the firmware upgrades are complete. click Ok on the Firmware update complete screen to close the window.
