We all know how important the internet is for everyone on today's date. And it really gets on your nerves when the wifi is not working or the speed is low. After all, the only thing worse than no internet is slow internet. So, is there a way to boost wi-fi signal. Is there a way to boost wi-fi signal to the front yard or the room in your house that doesn’t catch the network at all.
Here are a few methods that can be used to boost wi-fi signal if you wish to do so.
Upgrading the router to 802.11ac or 802.11ax
Moving the router in order to boost Wi-Fi signal
Switching to wireless mesh so that you can get greater Wi-Fi signal coverage
Upgrading the Wi-Fi receivers and antennas
Using a Wi-Fi extender
Here are these methods explained in detail.
Upgrading your router is one of the easiest ways to boost your wi-fi signal. The performance of your router is obviously lacking if it’s an older version say 802.1g or 802.11n. These older versions do not have the same strength or signal as the new 802.11ac wi-fi standards.
The 802.11n can pull through about 600mbps of speed within 300 feet outdoors and 150 feet indoors whereas 802.11ac can broadcasts around 1.135 Gbps of speed for a similar range.
That is why upgrading to a new router will make one hell of a difference.
Now, you might think this isn’t a big deal but if you don’t place your wi-fi in the right spot your internet connection will suffer. Especially if it’s placed somewhere under the stairs or behind any steel object or in a cupboard.
If your wi-fi router is placed anywhere amid the clutter of things then it’s your fault that you are suffering from the bad network. Therefore the best place to keep the router is in the hallway or lobby or any central place where the network is distributed evenly throughout the house.
A wi-fi mesh network requires more than one device to cover the entire area of your house or office. This method ensures that you get a consistent and same network on both the ground and first floor or near the wi-fi or in the washroom.
This is a great way to extend the network. And this method has been used in shopping malls, sports events or functions, and festivals to ensure proper network throughout the area. But now people have started using it in their homes as well as it proves to be quite reliable.
This way the network is easier to extend as well. You do not need to configure it like the extender or booster. Most meshes connect very easily to the existing network therefore it is a great way to both boost the wi-fi signal and extends it.
There is an antenna on your router which helps to broadcast networks through your office or home. Upgrading the router using 802.11ac is good but upgrading the antennas is also a choice you can consider. What good will it bring? A directional antenna in place of a high gain Omni-directional antenna will give you control over the direction of your wi-fi speed.
Not only the broadcast range will increase but also your device will be more efficient. So, check which antenna is best suited for your router and replace them in order to boost the wi-fi signal in your required space.
You can upgrade the plug-in receiver if the device in your house is using one. even if you are using 802.11ac router but the receiver is old you might not get fast speed as you expect therefore changing the receiver will help.
Even after using 802.11ac router you are not getting the speed you desire in some parts of your house you can always go for a wireless extender. Extenders allow you consistent and high-speed signals without worrying about cables or any kind of complicated networking.
The powerline extenders are the easiest to use. Connect the powerline adapter to the device with the help of an ethernet cable and plug in the other adapter where the speed seems low. And there you have it. High-speed internet in your required space.
These are some simple and easy ways to boost wi-fi signal and you never have to deal with slow internet again. Happy surfing then!
