It can be frustrating when the wifi repeater doesn't work properly. You must apply some practical solutions to troubleshoot the issue. Many things can be the reasons behind the not-so-cooperative behavior of the wifi repeater, like the placement of the wifi repeater.
Making sure that there is a stable connection and that the repeater is properly turned on is also a good way to solve the problem. Some of the crucial things you must do are update the router firmware, adjust frequency, manage the channel settings, reset the repeater back to its factory default settings, reconnect with the network, and power cycle all the devices.
Below, we have mentioned the different solutions that you can apply to fix the Wi-Fi entender not working problem. So, let's get started.
The location of your reset button may vary based on the brand of your wireless repeater. Generally, you can find it at the back of your wireless repeater. It is generally seen close to the ethernet cable port.
If you wish to reset your wireless extender, then you need to press your reset button and then you need to wait for 10 seconds. After that, it will reset all the earlier settings and will enable you to change them. In case your wireless extender is still not working, then you must try some other solution.
Below are the steps that you need to follow to forget the network from your computer.
Step 1: Press the Windows and I key simultaneously to launch Settings.
Step 2: Choose Network and Internet.
Step 3: Go to the pane on the left and then select Wi-Fi.
Step 4: Now, choose the option of Manage known networks.
Step 5: Select your wireless extender or repeater and then select Forget.
Step 6: Once you select Forget, the network is going to disappear from your list. After that, navigate to the right corner of your taskbar. After that, select the Wi-Fi icon.
Step 7: Start looking for the network of your repeater and then connect to it.
First of all, you need to check the network name of your router and check whether a similar network is available or not by using some other device like a tablet, phone, etc. If the network name of your router is TP-Link_Router, then the default network name of your wireless repeater would be Link_Router_EXT or TP-Link_Router.
If you wish to make any changes in these settings, then you must access the IP address given by your internet service provider. You can do this by using the browser of your computer. The IP address of your extender and router may differ based on the brand.
Physical hardware problems can appear on any technical device. Different physical damages on your extender device can lead to W-Fi extender not working issues. Therefore, you must check the front of your repeater and check if there are different LEDs.
Generally, you see white, yellow, or green color. In case none of the LED lights are turned on, then that means your device is broken. There is a chance that the problem lies in the electrical outlet or the charger you are using.
So, the above-mentioned are the different solutions that you can apply to fix the Wi-Fi extender not working problem.
