How do I Reset Buffalo Terastation to Factory Defaults

Step 1: Open a terminal window by using the shortcut ctrl+alt+t keys together.

Step 2: Enter the following command: ip route | grep default and press the enter button.

Step 3: Last, you will see the Buffalo router's IP address on screen.

Steps to Find Buffalo router IP on OSX

Step 1: Firstly, open the OSX Terminal following the order: Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal

Step 2: Alternatively, you can press cmd+space keys and then type terminal

Step 3: Enter the following command: netstat -nr | grep default and then press enter.

Step 4: You will see the Buffalo router default IP something like 192.168.0.1

Steps to Setup a Static (Fixed) IP Address on a Buffalo LinkStation

• Access the LinkStation settings through the web user interface. If you don't remember the current IP, you can locate with the help of NAS Navigator. If not installed, you can install NAS Navigator for either Windows or Mac system from the Settings section.
• You will see the current configuration. The default DHCP setting is enabled which allows LinkStation get an IP address automatically from a DHCP server.

• In this dialog box, you can do various changes. For setting a static IP address, click the radio button and disable DHCP. Then enter the IP and subnet mask into fields and click on the OK button. 

• Next, you will be asked to visit new IP address and then navigate to the network configuration screen under advanced settings.
• The list displays the new IP address. Here, you can modify the default gateway and DNS server settings if original DHCP values are not correct. Lastly, click on the Change button.

• Once the setup is finished, you can log out the Settings and exit from the web browser.
